ELIGIBILITY
This event is open to the public. Family participation is encouraged. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be kept on a leash.  In 1998 over 500 persons came from as far away as California and Virginia. And one group of over 30 Volksmarchers from europe.  The event was enjoyed by young in carriages and the old who strolled leisurely along the route (one couple was in their seventies).  All participants can walk or jog at their own pace over the 10 km (6.2 mile) course.Strollers and wheelchairs will not be able to transit the entire course.

The route is along the streets and through the parks of Hermann. The trail is a 3.2 mile loop, which is best reversed on the second time through.

REGISTRATION
All participants are encouraged to start early, as this is the longest short volksmarch most attend. Most walkers complete one loop, stop for lunch, and shop on the second time around. The event is FREE, if medallion or credit is not desired.

Registration fees include a commemorative medallion and official IVV-AVA credit $3.00 or only IVV-AVA credit $1.50. All participants must register and have a valid Start Card.   FREE WALKERS will be furnished a Start Card at no charge. This event will be held rain or shine. 

Plenty of on and off street parking is available and behind The Hermann Werks there public parking.

Start Cards must be picked up and returned during normal business hours. Individuals should allow 2 hours to complete this event (some are able to complete this event in less than 1.5 hours).

Business Hours: 
Monday - Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday     11:00 a.m.  to 4:00 p.m.

All participants must have a valid start card. The sponsors are not liable for accidents.  Every effort has been made by the sponsors to make this a safe and enjoyable event. 

RESTRICTIONS
This event will not be open on the following days:
Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

IVV-AVA AWARDS
All participants at sanctioned IVV-AVA events are eligible for 
international awards for events completed and distance accumulated. The official record book for these free awards will be available at this event.  The cost for these official record books is $5.00 and are accepted around the world at all IVV events. Those currently participating in this program are reminded to bring both IVV books.

AWARDS
Individuals paying the appropriate fee and completing the prescribed course will be awarded an antique gold finished medallion of "Grapes" which signify "Friendship".
